Manchester United has a
six men transfer shortlist heading into the January window. The Red Devils are
considering enhancing their squad following injuries to midfielders Paul Pogba
and Scott McTominay and could recruit some new midfielders in the winter
window.
The Manchester United
boss revealed on Wednesday night that Paul Pogba requires an operation on his
ankle and might be out for up to four weeks with Scott McTominay also on the
sidelines for up to two months because of a knee problem sustained on Boxing
Day.
According
to a report, Manchester United coach Michael Carrick is supposedly keen for the
club to sign the following six players in January.

Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff
Manchester United is
looking at Sean Longstaff to help deal with an injury crisis in midfield.
With Scott McTominay
not expected to return for another two months and Paul Pogba ruled out for
surgery Manchester United needs reinforcements.
According to ESPN, Longstaff has
been added to the pool of targets with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to be backed by
the board this window.
Aston Villa Captain Jack Grealish
Manchester United is
pointing to bring in an attacking midfielder in the current month’s transfer
window, Jack Grealish.
MANCHESTER UNITED
boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is targeting to add a booster of creativity to his
midfield with Scott McTominay suspended and Paul Pogba continuing to struggle
with an ankle injury.
As reported by The Independent,
Aston Villa's Grealish is being targeted while Christian Eriksen is also under
consideration.
West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice
Manchester United is
set to have its busiest transfer window for in several years with Declan
Rice one of six players the club is looking to sign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's
side could also lose as many as six players as they attempt to overhaul their
squad.
According to The
Times, and several other
media outlets Alexis Sanchez will be allowed to leave Manchester
United if the club can find someone to take the Chilean off their hands.
Sanchez was signed from
Arsenal in January 2018 to great fanfare as part of a swap deal that took
Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the Emirates. However, the move has not worked out.
Sanchez, who is
reportedly the highest-paid player in the Premier League has scored just five goals in 41 games.
Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes
The 20-year-old
Portugal international is one of several midfielders attracting Manchester
United's interest in the January window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer acknowledged
the club is looking to recruit in central midfield after injuries in their
squad.
However, Benfica want
to loan Fernandes out for 18 months with an option to buy. Fernandes' legislatures
have been in the UK and have vocalized to four Premier
League clubs.
Fernandes' release a clause is £102m but Benfica have conceded they will not get that kind of money
for an out-of-favor player.
Central midfielder of Germany National Team Emre Can
Emre Can is keen to
leave Juventus with Manchester United eyeing the German midfielder. The
former Liverpool man let his contract wind down at Anfield and moved
to Turin in 2018.
Since his switch to
Italy though he has struggled to establish himself in the starting XI which has
seen him consider his options.
MANCHESTER UNITED
needs midfield reinforcements with recent defeats highlighting their lack of
creativity and productivity in the final third.
Issues with Scott
McTominay and Paul Pogba have left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to consider his options
and adding a new face in January now looks a possibility.
Attacking Midfielder of Tottenham Christian
Eriksen
Manchester United is
ready to pass up the chance to sign Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen in
the January transfer window, according to reports.
Denmark
international’s current contract expires at the end of the season which will
allow him to leave Spurs on a free transfer next summer. Eriksen will also be
able to negotiate with teams outside of the Premier League from January 1 and
reach an agreement to join them for free at the end of the campaign.
Manchester United is
also in the race to sign Eriksen but Spurs are holding out for a £40 million
transfer fee in the upcoming transfer window.
And
according to the Daily Telegraph, MANCHESTER
UNITED is now prepared to wait until the end of the season before making
their move for Eriksen.
But that strategy could backfire as another Premier League side could submit an offer ahead of Manchester United, while it will also leave Real Madrid free to negotiate a deal with the 27-year-old before he is out of contract with Spurs.
