Arsenal sign Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel

Arsenal have completed their first signing of the January transfer window with the transfer of Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel. 23-year-old footballer remained with the Swiss club for three years. He appeared in 91 league matches and helped FC Basel 1893 in winning three consecutive Swiss Super League titles. He has made 28 appearances for Basel in the first half of this season and has scored seven goals.

Egyptian international Mohamed ElNeny performed well in the 2013-14 Champions League and played part in Basel's win over Chelsea. He also displayed good Soccer skills for Fussball Club Basel 1893 in Europa League. Elneny will become the ninth Egyptian to participate in the Barclays Premier League. He is eligible to play in 2015-16 season of UCL.

Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger announced the signing of Elneny after Wednesday night's 3-3 draw against Liverpool. The match's outcome kept Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table on goal difference.

Arsène Wenger is hopeful that Mohamed Elneny has the qualities needed for success in England and the league competitions.
"Overall I believe he will be a good addition to the squad. First he has not come in straight to a big club, he had an intermediate stay in Europe so the adaptation is less of a question mark. He is 23 years old and has already got Champions League, Europa League and Swiss League experience. He is a player who is adaptable in midfield. His strengths are his technical level, his vision, his intelligence, his disciplined attitude and his physical attitude to compete at a high level. I think he has the physical qualities to play at the top level."

Mohamed Elneny will boost choices of Arsenal Football Club in the defensive midfield. He expressed his pleasure at joining The Gunners.
"It is an indescribable feeling, I am really glad of course. Arsenal is one of the world's greatest teams, and I am very keen to participate positively with my new team, God willing, and to give my best for the team and for myself. Arsenal is one of those teams that everyone enjoys watching and of course I would love to play for such a great team."

Elneny elaborated that he is aware of the fact that he will have to work hard to win the love of the Arsenal fans. He vowed to connect with the supporters at the Emirates Stadium.
"It is one the biggest clubs in the world, I know everything about it and its players. I would like to tell [the fans] that, although you have not seen much of me, I promise I will contribute positively with the team. I am hoping that we win the Premier League and cup this season, and the Champions League as well."

England Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey Signed by Newcastle from Swansea

Newcastle United have succeeded in signing England midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea City. Shelvey has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal at St. James' Park. He is capped six times by England football team. 23 year old Shelvey has appeared in 126 matches of world famous club football competition Premier League for Swansea and his previous club Liverpool. He has scored 12 goals in the Premiership so far.

Jonjo Shelvey started his professional career by making his debut for Charlton in 2008 at just 16. He moved to Liverpool in May 2010 to remain in and out of the team under a succession of different managers. He left Anfield for a £5m deal in July 2013 to move to Swansea. He will get about £500,000 of that amount because of a sell-on clause. He helped the Swans in reaching their highest Premier League position of eighth in the 2014-15 season. But his performances in current season have been disappointing for Swansea fans. Transfer fee is stated to be around £12m for his latest move to NUFC. It is second January signing of Newcastle after the arrival of Senegal midfielder Henri Saivet from Bordeaux.

Jonjo Shelvey expressed pleasure on joing Magpies by saying:
"I'm very excited to be here. I'm so glad that it's finally done. I drove up through the night to be here so it's been a manic 24 hours but it's all been worth it to come here and play for this great club."
NUFC head coach Steve McClaren welcomed the transfer by stating:
"I'm delighted to welcome Jonjo to Newcastle United. He has great experience for a young English central midfielder and is a current England international, so I'm certain he will be a great addition to the squad. He is a player we have admired for some time and we're very pleased that we've now been able to bring him here."

McClaren is looking to bring players to Newcastle who know the Premier League well. Addressing the lack of goals should be main focus for Geordies. They are interested in the Tottenham and England winger Andros Townsend. They are on the watch-out for their former striker Andy Carroll, who is now at West Ham United. Newcastle are also in contact with Saido Berahino of West Bromwich Albion and Wolfsburg's Bas Dost.
