Manchester United boss
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs Ed Woodward to stump up the cash to save the club’s
season and possibly his job during the January transfer window.
While the club has been
tipped to spend big on James Maddison and Jadon Sancho the Red Devils can solve
some of their problems at least temporarily with three bargain buys.

Manchester United boss
Solskjaer is facing a fight to keep his job. While Woodward has been keen to
back the Norwegian, the stats make for grim reading. Just eight wins from 21 Premier League matches.
A goal difference of
just seven, for Solskjaer, a lower win percentage since being named permanent
boss than the one he had at Cardiff who were relegated.
Fans want Manchester
United to spend big and they
are entitled to think that. This is a club rolling in money.
But Woodward, the man
who has the final say on transfer deals at Old Trafford can solve the club’s
problems with three bargain buys.
Express Sport looks at
the players he should look to sign during the January transfer window.
Arturo Vidal
Recent reports from
both Chile and Italy have suggested Manchester United is interested in signing
Arturo Vidal from Barcelona. And he would represent a substantial upgrade on
anything the Red Devils have at present.
The 32-year-old is
better than Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Andreas Pereira. He has outscored the
trio, despite spending most of the season stuck on the bench.
Vidal flourished
alongside Paul Pogba at Juventus and the duo could rekindle that connection at
Old Trafford.
He would come cheap too
with Inter wanting just £18million to let the player go
Edinson Cavani
Manchester
United wants a striker and
sorely needs one. Anthony Martial is not up to scratch. He blows too hot and
cold for Solskjaer’s liking, lacking the cutting edge required to play at this
level.
Manchester United has been
linked with Edinson Cavani even though the PSG star would prefer to join
Atletico Madrid.
But their financial
muscle could help. They could pay the Uruguay international a premium to make
him the focal point of their attack.
He would be cheap in
terms of transfer fee though. With his contract up at the end of the season,
PSG supposedly wants just £8.5million to let him go.
Christian Eriksen Manchester United Transfer
Manchester United still
believes the Tottenham star would prefer to move to Spain. But with Real
Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid all looking elsewhere he may not get his
wish.
That is where
Manchester United can come in. Eriksen has struggled for Tottenham this season
but is undeniably an upgrade on Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata.
He would cost just
£20million too so Manchester United should try their utmost to get a deal done.
