Transfer
ban the latest
Chelsea is awaiting
news of their petition to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over the transfer
ban given to them by FIFA. The Blues were handed the two-window ban by FIFA
back in February after supposedly breaking rules over the signing of minors
from overseas although Chelsea has denied any offense.
They were unable to
register new players in the summer transfer window and as things stand they are
not able to sign players in January either. If their appeal is successful, that
could change but former Chelsea striker Carlton Cole feels it may actually be a
good thing for Blues head coach to not have the transfer ban lifted.
“If the ban is lifted
and that gives them an unfair benefit to the other teams then I do not think
that is right. They need to serve the correct time for the decision," he
said, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
Having said that,
whether they are allowed to buy or not I do not think it will make a big
difference to them or Lamps. He has got the team playing the way he wants and
the players are playing for him. It would be better for him if he’s not allowed
to buy in the window. Then if things do fall short for him he is still got that
cushion to say I was not able to buy.
Also when you look at
the Premier
League, it is really hard to buy someone in the January
window who could come in and make a massive difference. Unless you spend big
money and I do not think that is their priority. They need to stay getting the
team on the same page.
Their defense
definitely needs shoring up even if they have improved over the last few weeks. The defense is a very big issue for them and that needs sorting out. But I would definitely
wait until the summer.
Sancho
transfer update
Borussia Dortmund star
Jadon Sancho has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League
with Chelsea Liverpool and Manchester United among the clubs linked with
signing him. He has had some issues at Dortmund this season, fuelling
speculation that he could be allowed to move on.
A January move seems
unlikely but there have been suggestions that he could move next summer
with the clubs said to be monitoring his situation in Germany. And Goal reports
that Chelsea is prepared to smash their transfer record in a bid to sign the
teenager.
Chelsea's current
transfer record is the £72million paid to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga, and it is
likely to take a bid of more than that to bring Sancho to west London. However,
some Blues fans are hopeful that his friendship with Tammy Abraham and Callum
Hudson Odoi could prove to be a key factor in his future.
