Mourinho is believed, according to the Mirror, to have sent one of the club’s senior scouts to Italy last week to watch the Roma man in action.
Mourinho has identified the former Manchester City forward as someone who can take the load off Harry Kane’s shoulders.
Chelsea enter race for Sancho
Manchester United is facing a battle with Chelsea in their bid to land Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Chelsea is weighing up a £100million bid for the Manchester City man, who is being widely tipped to return to England next summer.

Newcastle eye Bowen swoop
Newcastle is planning to make a January swoop for Jarrod Bowen.
That is according to The Telegraph, which also claims that Hull winger is among those being looked at by manager Steve Bruce.
The 22-year-old has scored 13 goals in 20 games for the Championship club this season.
James set for new Chelsea deal

Chelsea defender Reece James is set to be rewarded with a new deal at the club.
The 19-year-old’s current deal runs until 2022, but according to the Mirror, he will be given improved terms to bring him closer into line with the club’s first-team stars.
James, who spent last season on loan at Wigan in the Championship, has made 14 appearances for Frank Lampard’s side this season.
