Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson
has a new role at Anfield. The 25-year-old Scot appears to have become the
team’s enforcer and overall wind-up merchant since the start of the season. Football
devotees around the world can obtain Premier League Tickets online to enjoy its superb
performances.
His new role became obvious for all
to see during the Reds’ 1-0 win over Flamengo this weekend. The Brazilian side
employed dirty tactics throughout the game including diving and persistent
fouls. However, Robertson wasn’t afraid to give a bit back.
Sadio Mane was booked for reacting to
a blatant foul from former Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha. In steps Robertson
who, clearly telling his teammate and the Flamengo player: “I’ll get him back
don’t worry”.
The pair even continued to exchange
barbs after the final whistle had gone. This type of stuff has been typical
from the Scot all season, who has emerged as not only a world-class player but
a true leader on the pitch.
Not only does he back his teammates
up, but the Reds wing-back is also an absolute nuisance to play against,
especially in big games. Earlier in the
season, when Liverpool
beat Manchester City, Robertson was intent on winding up Kyle Walker. A slight
nudge from the Scot sent the England international flying into the advertising
boards. It immediately incited a furious reaction from Walker, to which
Robertson just smiled and laughed.
More recently he was at it again
during the Merseyside derby. An accidental elbow resulted in an angry reaction
from Everton midfielder Tom Davies; only for the Scot to simply laugh in his
face. It must be infuriating for the opposition. But for Liverpool fans, it’s
great to see a level of spite added to our game.
Sometimes it’s not enough to just be
the better side. Sometimes you have to beat the opposition at their own game,
as Liverpool did against Flamengo this weekend.
