Lampard had a successful few years under Mourinho, winning his first two league titles with Mourinho in the dugout. And the Blues head coach believes Mourinho will transfer the winning mentality that he possesses on to his new team.

"I've spoken a lot about that period with Jose and what he did when he came to the club was give me real self-confidence," Lampard said. "He had a lot of that in himself. We all still see that now.

He had a really good way of transmitting that into his players and I think he probably took me as a bit of a project or whatever it was because I was slightly within myself at that point in terms of how I believed in myself.

He gave me great encouragement and also bonded a real team spirit at the club. We hadn't won anything and he wanted to make us winners.

We all really bought into that. It’s a long time ago now. I’m sure everything changes. It’s a different situation now but that was my experience of it. I’m sure he’ll try to get uplift.

He said ‘We don’t change, we may adapt as we go along’ but I think he would look at trying to inspire the players he works with now, as we all do.

"That’s however many percents of his job. Some of it’s out on the training pitch. Some of its how you work with people man to man."
