Liverpool star Sadio Mane was
not injured while on international duty and was substituted for disciplinary
reasons, it has been revealed. The Reds forward played in Senegal’s 4-1 win
over Eswatini on Sunday in a qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations but was
taken off at half-time.
Despite the scores still at 0-0,
Mane, who had already been booked, was subbed because of a worry that he may be
sent off. Senegal went on to win the game easily with a hat-trick from Bristol
City forward Famara Diedhiou. Football devotees from around the world can

Mane has been one of Jurgen
Klopp 's most important players so far this season as Liverpool look to go
one better than last season and win the Premier League title. And they have
started in brilliant fashion with Mane scoring seven goals in 12 league matches
with the team eight points clear.
There were fears that he had been
taken off at half-time on Senegal duty because of an injury fear but fans can
breathe a huge sigh of relief. The 27-year-old had been fouled on several
occasions and was becoming increasingly frustrated. Manager Aliou Cisse decided
to take his star player off as not to risk losing him for future matches
because of suspension.
Klopp will be pleased that Mane did
not play the full game and he should be fine to start Liverpool’s trip to
Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Reds will be looking to maintain their lead at
the top of the Premier League at Selhurst Park.
Mohamed Salah, Joe Gomez, Jordan
Henderson, Virgil Van Dijk, and Andy Robertson all withdrew from international
duty, and are all possible doubts for the game, however. The most concerning
maybe Robertson, who admitted he had been dealing with a niggling ankle injury
for a number of weeks.
For the last two and a half weeks,
I've not trained at all for Liverpool, he revealed after pulling out of the
Scotland squad.
