FA Cup Overview

The 2011–12 FA Cup (also known as the 2011–12 FA Cup with Budweiser) is the 131st season of the world's oldest association football knock-out competition. The closing date for applications was 1 April 2011, and saw 825 clubs apply to enter. On 8 July 2011, the FA announced that 763 clubs had been accepted. The winners will qualify for the (2012–13) UEFA Europa League and will start the competition in the group stage without having to play a playoff game. All of the teams that entered the competition and were not members of the Premier League or the Football League had to compete in the qualifying rounds. Teams from Leagues One and Two entered at this stage, along with the winners from the Fourth Round Qualifying. The draw was made on 30 October 2011 and ties were played on the weekend of 12–13 November 2011. The competition was overshadowed by the collapse of Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba during their Sixth Round match with Tottenham Hotspur. Muamba went into cardiac arrest on the pitch and, following failed attempts to resuscitate him, was taken to the London Chest Hospital; where he went on to recover. The match was subsequently abandoned. On March 27, the match was replayed and Tottenham won 3-1.

FA CUP Overview

FA Cup also knows as Football Association Challenge is a most popular top level football competition in the UK and the world. In FA Cup, English men's tournament and women's tournament is also held. FA Cup comprises of a total of 14 rounds; six qualifying rounds, followed by six further rounds, semi-finals, and the final. Normally the First Round is played in mid-November, while Second Round is held on one of the first two Saturdays in December. The third round is played on the first weekend in January, Fourth Round later in the month and Fifth Round in mid-February. The Sixth Round usually occurs in early or mid of March, with the semi-finals a month later. The final is usually held on the Saturday after the Premier League season finishes in May. The winning team also qualifies for the UEFA Europa League.


In 1921-22 seasons, 656 clubs entered the competition and in 2004-05 seasons, this increased to 660 clubs. In 2005-06 season 674 clubs, in 2006-07 season 687 clubs, in 2007-08 season 731 clubs and for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 competitions it reached 762.The last FA Cup 2010-11 was held in 14 Aug 2010 and end on 14 May 2011 in which 759 teams were played and Manchester City get the Champions. In the current FA Cup 2011-12 763 clubs had been accepted and Manchester City is the defending champions. The winners will qualify for the group stage of the 2012-13 UEFA Europa League.

Premier League Overview

The Premier League is an English professional league between the English football clubs. The premier league is one of the famous leagues in the Europe. The English Premiere League was brought into existence in 1992, when the 20 teams which comprised the old First Division withdrew from the Football League, and branched out on their own; forming what has now became known as the Premier League. It’s also known as Barclays Premier League. This great event is most watched broadcast to over 600 million people in over 200 countries worldwide.
The Premier League is a corporation in which the 20 member clubs act as shareholders. The Seasons started from August to May, in which every team playing 38 matches each, totaling 380 matches are playing in the season. During the start of a season (from August to May) each club plays the others twice, once at their home stadium and once at that of their opponents. Each Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are gives for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points and then goals scored. Most matches are played on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few matches are played during weekday evenings.
