Ben Davies made his long-awaited comeback from an
ankle injury in Tottenham's 3-2 victory over Aston Villa. The left-back had not
appeared since his late retirement in the Spurs' West Ham victory in November,
but finished the 90 minutes as Jose Mourinho's team came out victorious at
Villa Park.
Ethan Ampadu also had a well-deserved playing time
after a significant spell outside the field. Ampadu had to wait until the end
of October before finally being entrusted with his debut by the German club,
although he had not played for the Bundesliga since December 10 until he became
a replacement for the second half in his team's 3-0 win over Werder Bremen.
The Chelsea player has only played six times in all
competitions for Julian Nagelsmann's team this quarter and has failed to play
the full 90 minutes in any of these outings. Kieffer Moore has brought his
total goals to five for the season after scoring a double in Wigan's 2-2 draw
with Cardiff City.
The striker - a target from the January transfer
window for the Bluebirds - struck twice in the first half at Cardiff City
Stadium, with three of Moore's five goals this season against the two Welsh
Championship teams. Jazz Richards and Will Vaulks both finished the full 90
minutes for Neil Harris' troops.
Tom Lawrence continued his impressive form for Derby
with a superb strike in the Rams' 1-1 draw with Huddersfield at Pride Park. It
was the seventh goal in the 26-year league season and his second off the beaten
track goal in three games.
Gareth Bale made his fourth start in 2020 for Real
Madrid in their 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo. The Wales talisman struggled for
regular playing time this quarter due to injuries and his seemingly icy
relationship with Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane.
But he played from the start of the La Liga game in
Madrid on Sunday night and was applauded by local fans as he left the field
after being replaced by Ferland Mendy in the 84th minute. Joe Rodon, Connor
Roberts and Ben Cabango did not all participate in Swansea City's 4-4 draw with
Hull City.
Roberts and Cabango were not unused replacements
while Rodon missed the match at KCOM after recently recovering from an ankle
problem that kept him away for three months. He is expected to return when
Steve Cooper's host Huddersfield at Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Aaron Ramsey started again for Juventus as Maurizio
Sarri's men beat Brescia 2-0 while Manchester United winger Daniel James could
play against Chelsea tonight, although Bournemouth ace Harry Wilson was not in
action due to the Premier League winter break. Ryan Giggs' team will play two
Euro 2020 preparation matches against Austria and the United States of America
next month.
