Just Marouane Fellaini was signed in the summer from Everton. Phil Townsend, the director of communications said: The club has made obvious its commitment to Moyes in a six year agreement. Permitting him to outline the future of Manchester United team, it is a long plan not a short-term.

Signing of Fellaini happened on the transfer closing date, however the club was not successful to sign Everton defensive player Leighton Baines, Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao. Moyes was also failed with two offers for Barcelona midfielders, Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alacantara. When Fabregas decided to stay at the Nou Camp and Thiago selected Bayern Munich.

Wayne Rooney

Townsend added in his letter to fans: The club had two major concerns regarding the transfer window. The initial was the stay of Wayne Rooney. He is an outstanding player and the director is very eager to have Rooney as an important aspect of the club to maintain the Premier League title. That goal was achieved. The second concern was the addition of a midfielder in the team, and Fellaini’s signing has fulfilled that requirement.

Sir Alex Ferguson Target on Winning Third Champions League Crown

With the Premier League title just about as good as done, ex-star of Manchester United Gordon McQueen believes that Sir Alex Ferguson is more determined than ever to claim a third Champions League crown. United were crowned kings of Europe in 1999 and 2008. He insists that a Premier League and Champions League double would even supplant the 1999 treble season as the Scot’s greatest achievement. ‘You can’t overlook the challenge that faced United when opponents Manchester City won the league last season,’ McQueen said. It was a huge shock to everyone at United however they have responded greatly well.

There is no doubt that the signing of Robin van Persie has made all the difference. His goals have grabbed the headlines and taken some of the pressure of Wayne Rooney, who has thrived playing alongside the Dutchman. Sir Alex decided to play both of them against Everton just three days before the match in Madrid as he knew a 12-point lead in the league would give them breathing space to think more about the Champions League. There is no doubt in my mind that Sir Alex’s priority is the Champions League. He often talks about how they have underachieved in the Champions League and he is right because they should have won it at least four times under him.

If they are successful in winning the league and the FA Cup then it has been a great season however a league and Champions League double is something else. If they do that it will be an unmatched achievement because the standards in England and from sides like Madrid and Barcelona in Europe are far higher than they were in 1999. Manchester United vs Real Madrid

Manchester United were grateful to an extraordinary performance from goalkeeper David de Gea as they left the Bernabeu having gained an exceptionally Champions League 1-1 draw against Real Madrid. Danny Welbeck gave Sir Alex Ferguson’s team an early lead and a critical away goal from Wayne Rooney’s corner, however ex-United golden boy Cristiano Ronaldo inevitably reacted with an excellent header to draw Real level before the interval.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho’s claim that it was “the match the world wanted to see”, both teams created opportunities to take a crucial lead to Old Trafford for the second leg of this last-16 tie in three weeks’ time. Former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper De Gea making his best performance in a United shirt. The Premier League leaders would have been content with a score draw that gives them a good chance of progressing after the second leg at Old Trafford on March 5.

Fulham Football Club – Overview

Fulham Football Club is a professional football club based in Fulham, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, southwest London. Founded in 1879, they play in the English Premier League, and are currently in their 11th consecutive season in the division. They are the oldest established football team from London playing in the Premier League.

The club has spent twenty-four seasons in English football's top division, the majority of that in two spells during the 1960s and 2000s. The latter spell was associated with chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed, after the club had climbed up from the fourth tier in the 1990s. Fulham has never won a major honour, although they have reached two major finals. In 1975, as a Second Division team, they contested the FA Cup final for the only time in their history, losing 2–0 to West Ham United. Fulham reached the 2010 Europa League final, which they contested with Atlético Madrid in Hamburg, losing 2–1 after extra time.

The club has produced many English greats including Johnny Haynes, George Cohen, Bobby Robson, Rodney Marsh and Alan Mullery. They play at Craven Cottage, a ground on the banks of the River Thames in Fulham which has been their home since 1896. Fulham's training ground is located near Motspur Park, where the club's Academy is also situated.

The club gained professional status on 12 December 1898, in the same year that they were admitted into the Southern League's Second Division. They were the second club from London to turn professional, following Arsenal F.C. (Royal Arsenal 1891). They adopted a red and white kit during the 1900–01 seasons. In 1902–03 they won promotion from this division, entering the Southern League First Division. The club's first recorded all-white club kit came in 1903, and ever since then the club has been playing in all-white shirts and black shorts, with socks going through various evolutions of black and/or white, but are now normally white-only. The club won the Southern League twice, in 1905–06 and 1906–07.

Fulham returned to the top division of English football, and competed in the Premier League for the first time. The club finished the 2001–02 seasons in thirteenth place. Fulham were the only team to host top-flight football with some standing areas in the twenty-first century, but due to restrictions on standing this was not allowed to continue. Fulham were forced to ground share with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road during the 2002–03 and 2003–04 seasons while Craven Cottage was being rebuilt as an all-seated stadium. There were fears that Fulham would not return to the Cottage, after it was revealed that Al-Fayed had sold the first right to build on the ground to a property development firm.

Fulham F.C. is owned by Mafco Holdings, based in Bermuda. Mafco Holdings is owned by Mohamed Al-Fayed and his family. By 2011, Al-Fayed had loaned Fulham F.C. £187 million in interest free loans. In March 2011 Fulham posted annual losses of £16.9 million, Al-Fayed stated that he would continue to make "funds available to achieve our goals both on and off the pitch" and that the "continued success of Fulham and its eventual financial self-sustainability is my priority."
